Hensall Co-op is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to become an integral member of our Quality team! The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for maintaining and monitoring Quality and Good Manufacturing Practices as well as other quality control functions within the Food Products Division. This is a full-time position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain good manufacturing standards and procedures at the Hensall location through calibration, Preventative Maintenance, premises, pest control, sanitation, and hygiene practices in receiving, processing, warehousing, and shipping.
- Active participation in the HACCP Team to support food safety and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure that all necessary quality records are correct and up to date.
- Ensure sanitation and pest control is effective and that all follow-up documentation and reports are accurate.
- Provide training for Operations and other staff on HACCP, Quality, and Good Manufacturing Principles.
- Prepare all audits and reports on Quality performance and compliance with HACCP, IP, GMP and general Quality Standards.
- Remain up to date on current and new technologies and industry news.
- Assist and/or lead investigations of food safety or major deficiencies of quality as well as customer concern investigations.
- Ensure that all non-compliance situations are corrected and assist in developing a plan to prevent recurrence.
- Review shipments and prepare samples in accordance with Hensall’s CGSP for phytosanitary purposes.
- Evaluate product samples for physical and chemical parameters (mycotoxin, foreign material, moisture, protein, oil, GMO, etc.)
- Understand and follow all Hensall Co-op Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Understanding of quality systems and regulations related to GFSI, HACCP, GMP, etc.
- Organizational and time management skills
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of agricultural products and processing (beans, grain, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Education
- 2+ years of experience in Quality Systems and HACCP Experience in an agricultural environment is an asset
- 3rd Party Food Safety Training (SQF, BRC. HACCP, etc.)
- Valid G Driver’s license
