Hensall Co-op serves as a full supply chain provider of edible beans and IP soybeans, catering to end-use customers in more than 40 countries. Hensall Co-op also supports growers and food processors in Farm Services, Grain and Feed Ingredient Marketing, Energy (Fuel and Propane), Animal Nutrition, Food and Ingredient manufacturing, as well as Global Freight Forwarding and Logistics.

 

Hensall Co-op is currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operational aspects of all grain locations, edible bean processing, and crop input distribution.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of operations at various grain and crop input locations as well as processing facilities, ensuring overall efficiency, standardization of practices and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversight of quality and maintenance, ensuring all activities align with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Act as a liaison between the Chief Operating Officer and operational staff, ensuring smooth communication and effective implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in the budgeting process, providing detailed analysis and forecasting for operational needs and capital expenditure, ensuring investments are aligned with long-term company objectives.
  • Overall responsibility for inventory management across grains, edible beans and crop inputs for raw and finished goods. Oversee storage plans, effective movement of products across locations, and optimization of processing capabilities.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance metrics, ensuring targets are met and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and systems to enhance operational efficiency and data management capabilities.
  • Streamline operational practices across locations to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Job Requirements:
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams and overseeing large-scale projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to travel to various operational locations within Canada.
  • Excellent financial acumen with proven experience in budgeting and capital expenditure planning.

 

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operational management, agriculture or another related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in operational management in agriculture or other related industry. 
  • Previous experience with inventory management and logistics – in the agriculture industry preferred.
