Hensall Co-op is seeking a dynamic individual to become an integral member of our Aylmer team! The Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing and partaking in general elevator and yard operations, with a portion of the time operating agricultural equipment for fertilizer and chemical application. This position will require a high degree of customer relations to service the needs of HC customers and members. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Daily operational functions of the facility in whichever area as assigned by Location Manager, which may include driving into London to meet operational requirements
  • Crop input procedures, including fertilizer blending and seed delivery from the location to farms
  • Supervise and direct work activities of drivers and Operations staff on location 
  • Accurate grading of both Food Grade and Commercial Grain samples 
  • Maintain & repair equipment according to maintenance schedule, policies and procedures 
  • Communicate with Location Manager to ensure that all customer needs are met 
  • Organize inventory control by verifying shipments, completing documentation, and producing inventory counts when needed 
  • General yard maintenance to ensure all areas are always kept clean and safe both inside and out, operating/adjusting/cleaning equipment as needed 
  • Respond to incoming/outgoing loads daily and verify and maintain records of grain movements into and out of the facility 
  • Load and unload products with forklift and other equipment 
  • Ensure that all products meet quality standards and complete all required paperwork 
  • Operate all equipment associated with the elevator process, including conveyors, scales, etc. 
  • Ensure accurate information of scale weights and transactions are recorded daily 
  • Safe operation of fertilizer, sprayer, and custom application equipment to blend, load and apply material to fields 
  • Maintain records of application, field conditions, and daily trip and safety inspection sheets 
  • Deliver fertilizer to customers on location 
  • Understand and follow all HC Health and Safety policies and procedures 
  • All other duties as assigned 

 

Job Requirements:
  • Must have a valid G driver’s license 
  • Valid DZ or AZ License 
  • Ability to operate 5 ton loaders and forklifts 
  • Knowledge of and experience driving RoGator, TerraGator, or other Application equipment 
  • Professional Applicator’s License or willingness to obtain 
  • Ontario Pesticide Exterminator License or willingness to obtain 
  • Nutrient Management Applicator’s License or willingness to obtain 
  • Must be available to work some overtime and on call shifts, including evenings and weekends to meet seasonal requirements and customer demands 

 

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma 

  • Post-Secondary education in an agricultural related program is an asset 

  • 5+ years of experience in the Agri-retail business

 

Pay Range: $21.40/hr - $31.10/hr
