We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our Hensall Food’s team as QA Technician for our Ready Meals Plant. The QA Tech is responsible for maintaining and monitoring food safety and quality programs at Hensall Foods ready meal plant. QA Tech is a member of the quality team and provides support for other roles within the department as required.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains food safety and quality programs.
  • Assists QA team during internal and external quality audits at ready meal facility.
  • Complete assigned QA documentation at ready meal location.
  • Monitor and verify HACCP and quality procedures and records.
  • Provide quality training sessions as per the training plan/matrix and customer requirements. Responsible for new employee quality training.
  • Act as CCP Operator and monitor cooking and cooling CCP’s
  • Coordinate with Production team in monitoring packaging CCP’s and ensuring finished products meet customer requirements before shipment.
  • Assist in maintaining environmental monitoring program (EMP), collect, prepare and send EMP swabs and equipment cleaning swabs as per swabbing plan.
  • Assist plant management in investigating food safety and quality incidents for root causes and ensure corrective actions are followed through; analyze trends for non-conformance; discuss issues and prepare plans for improvement.
  • Assist in conducting SQF internal quality audits, traceability audits, mock recalls, etc.
  • Conduct monthly premises inspections for ready meal plant.
  • Inspect incoming ingredients to ensure COA and receiving requirements are met.
  • Perform onsite audits of processing and packaging areas to evaluate Good Manufacturing Practices as part of premises inspections.
  • Assist in performing in-house calibration/validations and check critical equipment (scales, data loggers, moisture meters, thermometers, lighting, magnets etc.)
  • Understand and follow all HFI Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Continuously work towards process improvements within the Quality department.
  • Other duties will be assigned as necessary by Ready Meals management.

 

Job Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain HACCP and SQF Quality system certifications
  • Highly motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of quality systems and sampling processes

 

Required Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Food Sciences and/or minimum of 2 years of quality control experience
  • Experience in maintaining environmental monitoring program (EMP) and clean equipment swabbing tasks
