COVID-19

As an essential service we continue to be open for business. 
However, we are doing business differently to keep our employees safe.


With COVID-19 continuing to evolve we are monitoring the situation both locally and abroad to ensure that we provide our essential services to our community and our customers in a safe and efficient manner. As vaccinations begin to roll out in Canada, Hensall Co-op understands the important role we play in the local, federal, and international economy. We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure we are available to our stakeholders every step of the way.


We are a component of the critical food supply chain and we are fortunate to have a team of employees who understand what that means.

As the response framework for the province of Ontario changes through different colours, we understand our responsibilities to continue to provide service in a safe manner across all our locations. To do this, we are asking for your support since some of our procedures have not returned to normal regardless of the local public health measures in a particular area.


Our locations are still open for business, however walk-in traffic is limited across our locations and appointments are highly encouraged. We may over time make some changes to hours of operation at some locations where we can do so without a detrimental impact on service levels.


As most of the province of Ontario moves through colour coded measures, we have mandated wearing a mask or facial covering both inside and outside our facilities. We ask if you are going to be on our property, please ensure you are wearing a mask or face covering that is compliant with CDC. At our locations where visitor or public access is permitted, we will request visitors wear a mask (we will not be providing masks to visitors) and our employees will be expected to have their masks on at all times while working.​


• For product pickup:

  • Please call ahead so we can have your products and documents prepared. Our teams will make arrangements that comprehend additional safety protocols to protect your health and that of our employees.


• If you are delivering product to our locations:

  • Please follow the signage and do not enter areas we have closed to visitors



• If we are delivering product (feed, fertilizer, seed or other) to your farm: 

  • We ask everyone to please maintain a safe distance and wear an appropriate mask or face covering to help reduce possible exposure


• How to pay accounts:

  • We would prefer customers sign up to make payments electronically. Please contact Sylvie Atwell at 519-262-3511 ext. 262 or satwell@hdc.on.ca or Buddy Richardson at 226-927-9093 or brichardson@hdc.on.ca to make those arrangements. Customers can drop their cheques off at our locations in our drop boxes or mail slots but permission to enter the building will be by appointment only.

• How we are protecting our Employees, Customers and the Community at large:

  • We have implemented the following protocols to help stop the spread of COVID-19 to protect our employees, members and customers while ensuring we don’t disrupt our services to you:
    • All HENSALL CO-OP staff are performing Daily Active Screening. This is also a requirement of all contractors/visitors prior to entry into any of our buildings
    • HENSALL CO-OP staff who can work remotely and still provide the services required of them are doing so
    • On-site HENSALL CO-OP staff are maintaining acceptable physical distances from each other and they are wearing masks when not at their workstations
    • All HENSALL CO-OP staff travelling for business (including conferences, trade shows, meetings) has been cancelled. This includes non-essential inter-company travel between locations.
    • As noted above we are limiting access to our facilities and customers must contact their local HENSALL CO-OP location before arriving to make arrangements to drop-off or pick-up. Instructions will be provided at that time.

    • All HENSALL CO-OP staff travel for business (including conferences, trade shows, meetings) has been cancelled. This includes non-essential inter-company travel between locations.

    • Any employee who travels through a transport gateway (airport, train station etc.) is required to quarantine for 14 days.

    • Masks are mandatory at all locations both inside and outside when employees are not in their workstation.

  • Staff are limited to visiting farms for critical services that can not be done remotely, they are asking the appropriate screening questions to ensure that they do not come in contact with anyone that meets the criteria for isolation and they are wearing masks
