Reporting to the Manager of Commercial Grains, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Develop and deliver successful grain origination plans
  • Promote current and upcoming commodity programs
  • Provide trusted market insight and competitive pricing
  • Communicate with Grain Originators to summarize current market conditions, determine and target any unique opportunities, and establish action plans
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure adequate space allocation, timely delivery schedules, and quality of stored grain
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising, Logistics, and Grain Administration teams to ensure the efficient and professional execution of purchase obligations
  • Manage and lead all aspects of the origination team including employee development, budgeting, and grain procurement leadership
  • Creation and execution of the commercial grain annual procurement plan
  • Maintain a clear customer account list and defined potential new business list, including an action plan for each
  • Purchase grain for delivery into company facilities and direct delivery markets, and supervise other Grain Originators doing the same
  • Organize and facilitate producer presentations of current market reviews and marketing education

Minimum Requirements for this role include:

 

  • Diploma or Degree in business, economics, or commerce, ideally with a focus on agriculture
  • 10+ years’ experience in Ontario agri-business, with experience in grain merchandising and origination
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
